Lent/Easter

Join us for our following events to celebrate this holy time.

Lenten Small Groups

Prayer Lenten Study -Monday Evenings 7-8:30pm starting March 6th – BH-4
This Lent season you will have the opportunity to explore the discipline of prayer. For some prayer is a
confusing topic: how do you pray, what do you pray, how often do you pray. For some their prayer life has
become stagnant. They’ve been praying the same way for as long as they remember and it feels like
nothing is happening. During this time we’ll discuss these questions around prayer and experience
different forms of praying such as Taize prayer and the daily examen (reflection and meditation) and
we’ll even create a labyrinth for our community. Join Carrie Bland this Lent Season on Monday
evenings beginning March 6 from 7-8:30 pm in BH-4.

“Claiming the Promise” Lenten Study – Tuesday Evenings 7-8:30 pm starting March 7th – Parlor
This 7-week study will be co-led by Pastor Joyce and rotating members of the Hearts for Others group. The focus of the study is to understand what the Bible says about homosexuality and how these scriptures have been misinterpreted by many Christians. “Claiming the Promise” includes a book available from Pastor Joyce as a PDF.

If interested in any of these studies please contact Pastor Joyce or Pastor Carrie.

Lenten Nutrition Support
During the season of Lent we are called to care for others through almsgiving – traditionally thought of as helping those in need. REACH uses a lot of peanut butter and jelly for Warm-up Breakfasts and sandwiches that are served to homeless folks or others in the Renton area. Please add it to your shopping list and put it in our Food Bank cart when you come to church.

Maundy Thursday – April 13th  6:30pm
Join us and have a simple soup supper and worship in our
sanctuary. The word Maundy comes from the Latin word mandatum which means
‘commandment.’ This service is a time to remember Jesus’ Last Supper when he gave the
disciples a new commandment, to love one another as he had loved them. If you can help move
tables and chairs and set tables in the sanctuary (10:00 Thursday morning), clean up afterward or
provide a pot of soup, please contact Donna Stock.

Good Friday – April 14th  7:30pm
Come experience a contemplative worship patterned after Taizé worship.
