Revised Church Mission Statement
Our Church Council approved this revised mission statement at our September 21 meeting. We added values of fellowship and social justice.
Our mission statement now reads:
The mission of Fairwood Community United Methodist Church is to build community through Christian faith, fellowship, service, and social justice where all belong.
Women of Faith Meeting - Thursday 11/9/23 10:00am
Our next United Women of Faith meeting will be held on Thursday, November 9th, at 10:00am in the Parlor of Benedict Hall.
We will be crafting some really cute turkey placeholders for you to use at your Thanksgiving table. We also have some autumn paper placemats for you to color with colored-pencils. Debbie Miller will lead us in a devotional for our World Thank offering that we’ll collect.
Please join us for fellowship, snacks and fun. YOU are especially invited! We haven’t seen some of you in a while and we extend our heartfelt invitation to you!
Second Chance Quilt Sale
Our local United Women in Faith (UWF) is offering a 2nd chance quilt sale (no baked goods or soup) after worship on Sunday, November 12. Quilts will be on display in Benedict Hall during fellowship time.
If you would like a preview, please click the following link. This allows you to view them and comment if you would like to claim one before they are displayed. https://photos.app.goo.gl/nNykzysD3x2LhXMm7
All proceeds will benefit the UWF ministries for women, children and families. Come find a nice gift for someone (or yourself)!
November is Pledge Drive Month
November is pledge drive month at Fairwood Community UMC. Letters and pledge cards were mailed the last week of October. We ask that you prayerfully consider the amount you wish to give to your church for 2024. We expect that a similar amount to 2023 will be needed to support our mission work; therefore, our goal is $380,000.
Extra copies of the pledge cards are available in the narthex (as you enter the sanctuary).

Church Cleanup 11/4/23
It’s that time!
The church grounds are in need of attention. Overgrown trees in the back parking lot, bush trimming, leaves everywhere, moss build up on the blacktop, among other things. The Men’s group is sponsoring a cleanup of the church grounds on Saturday, November 4th. All are welcome!
Show up with gloves and other tools. We’ll start at 9:00. With lots of help, it should take only a few hours. Trailers will be available to haul away debris.
All Church Conference - Nov 4th 3pm
Saturday, November 4 is our annual All-Church Conference. This is our annual business meeting with our district superintendent and our entire church family is invited. Our D.S., Rev. Derek Nakano, will meet first with the Staff-Parish Relations Committee at 2:00, then the all-church conference will start at 3:00. While only members of Fairwood Community UMC may vote on official business, everyone is invited and encouraged to attend.
What will we do?
• Learn more about our Area-wide M.I.L.E. initiative
• Elect our 2024 church leaders
• Approve our pastor’s salary and do other business such as review our membership report
• Review and evaluate the ministry of FCUMC
