Easter Tide
EASTERTIDE 3-2-1
“OPEN INTO THE LIGHT”
Every midweek during Eastertide you will receive a sermon digest in the 3-2-1 format: 3 Ideas from the sermon; 2 quotes; 1 benediction. Sometimes, I will mix things up. So, from the sermon, “Open: Into the Light” here is your Eastertide 3-2-1.
FIRST IDEA: BE OPEN DURING YOUR MOVEMENT PRACTICE
Mindfulness through movements refer to creative practices that heighten your sense of awareness while you move your body (e.g. exercising, gardening, dancing, quilting, or carving).
During these “activated attention” moments, see if you can also be more open to the presence of God with you or the voice of God speaking to you.
SECOND IDEA: BE OPEN DURING YOUR HEARING PRACTICE
It’s okay to name our frustrations as upsetting or overwhelming when we experience unfortunate events. But see if you can hear a larger narration that places a painful episode in God’s wider story of hope, healing, or resurrection. Your disappointments don’t need to define who you are.
THIRD IDEA: BE OPEN DURING YOUR SHARING PRACTICE
Our text today says that when Jesus broke bread with them, they realized who he was. Their eyes were opened. What if during the simple sharing of meals and fellowship are when we break open our silos and cocoons because we create more connections with others. So, be more open to potentials and possibilities that are rising as you dine with someone this week.
2 QUOTES
“When we deny our story, it defines us. When we own our story, we can write a brave new ending” (Brene Brown).
“Above all, trust in the slow work of God” (Pierre Teilhard de Chardin).
1 BENEDICTION
May the caterpillar stage teach you. May the chrysalis of change form you. May the wind of creation invite you to unfurl your wings and fly, be free. Amen.
