Thank you! This congregation never ceases to amaze us with its generosity. Every
school age child in our Asylum Seekers Mission project received a new backpack
and all the school supplies needed for each grade level.
Additionally, seven backpacks full of supplies were given to a group of Somali
refugee children in Kent. Even more backpacks and seven large bags of school
supplies were donated to Community in Schools.

Rev. Cruz Edwin Santos will be our guest preacher on Sunday, September 29th, as
we celebrate National Hispanic Heritage Month (Sept. 15 – Oct. 15).

Rev. Cruz Edwin Santos is appointed as the Director of Hispanic/Latinx Ministries for
our Pacific Northwest Conference. We are blessed to have him here at Fairwood in
worship on Sept. 29!

We are excited to start Youth Choir practices on Sunday, Sep. 22nd after church in
the choir room (11:15-11:50).
All 5th – 12th grade youth are invited to join us each Sunday! It’s a new school
year so it’s a great time to try something new even if you have never sung with us.
Bring your friends as well, no prior choir experience necessary. We focus on
contemporary Christian music.
We plan to sing this fall on Oct. 20th and Nov. 17th and Christmas Eve.

SPROWT classes on Saturday, September 21 are “Cooking Fall Favorites” with
Kartha and “Teen Time Management: Homework and Extracurriculars” with LJ. All
youth in grades 6 through 12 are invited. Invite your friends! The SPROWT
program is free.

We gather in Benedict Hall from 9am – 12pm noon.

Bishop Cedrick Bridgeforth will be preaching at our worship service on
Sunday, September 15th. Come get to know our bishop! He is the resident
bishop of the Greater Northwest Episcopal Area of The United Methodist
Church (Washington, Idaho, Oregon and Alaska).

We have many opportunities for Christian faith, fellowship, service and social justice
here this fall at Fairwood Community United Methodist Church. Get your Fall Kickoff
handout and see where you’ll build community with us.

We are so grateful to welcome new members into our faith community on today!
We will be blessed by their prayers, presence, gifts, service and witness in our
community here at Fairwood Community United Methodist Church.

Youth group on Sunday evenings starts off with a kickoff barbecue today September
8th. Youth group meets 4:00 – 6:00pm. Youth group will still be for 6th through 12th
graders (even though morning Sunday School classes have a different age
grouping).
We are looking for volunteers to provide food and help with set-up (at 2:30) and
clean-up for the BBQ. Reach out to Kristin or Jenny if you would like to help!

• New Sunday School classes start on September 8th.
  Children who are Pre-Kindergarten through 4th grade will meet in BH-2 (on left
  side of hallway) with Kristin T. and Jenny B.
• 5th and 6th graders will meet in BH-5 (on right side of hallway) with Kartha H.
• Youth 7th through 12 graders will attend illumin8 classes in BH-3 (at end of
  hallway) with LJ and Brian Martin.
