2024 Tax Statements emailed out

Your 2024 tax statement from Fairwood Community United Methodist Church was emailed on Sunday, January 26th.
If you would like a printed copy or see any discrepancies, please reach out to Jennifer F., our Stewardship Chair.

Youth updates!

Youth Group restarted! We meet on the 1st and 3rd Sundays of the month at 4:00 – 6:00 in Benedict Hall. The next dates are February 2, February 16, March 2, March 16, etc.

Illumin8 will restart on Sunday, February 9 (in the youth room during service).
It will be held on the 2nd and 4th Sundays of each month. (2/9, 2/23, 3/9, etc)
On the 1st, 3rd, and 5th Sunday mornings, youth are invited to join their families or to sit together in their reserved back row during church service!

Wesley Spring Glen Update- senior living facility

President Kevin Anderson will be at our church to give an update on the building of
the new Wesley senior living facility in Fairwood.

Feb. 2nd – Youth are singing in worship, so there is NO practice this Sunday.
Feb. 9th – Youth Choir practice 11:15-11:50
Feb. 16th and 23rd – No Youth Choir practice (Winter Break)

Book Studies

Black History Month book study
Starts February 5th
Wednesdays, 6:30 – 8:00pm

We will be reading  “Brown Faces, White Spaces” by Latasha Morrison
Explore aspects of American life where systemic racism still flourishes and how to create systems that work for all.

February: LECTIONARY STUDY
Start date: Tuesday morning, February 4
Lectionary readings are a collection of bible verses chosen for worship and study purposes. These are the same scriptures we read on Sunday morning.

March & April: LENTEN STUDY
Start date: Tuesday, March 4
The Lenten theme this year is “Purveyors of Awe.” The Tuesday study will be in conjunction with the worship themes on Sunday morning

We don’t have the study materials yet, but let Pastor Ferdie know that you’re interested and he’ll send it toyou when we do.

Myths and Truths in Senior Living Seminar - Saturday, February 8th, 1:00 – 2:30pm

Join us for “Myths and Truths in Senior Living.” Our speaker will be Nichole Casado
from 1st Choice Advisory Services.

You’ll get an overview of all senior care settings, including home care, and the
various ways to pay for it.

Come on Saturday, February 8th, 1:00 – 2:30pm in the sanctuary. Bring your
experiences and questions!

Faith Action Network- Interfaith Advocacy Day 2/20/25

Faith Action Network’s “Interfaith Advocacy Day” in Olympia is scheduled for Thursday, February 20, 2025. Plenaries, workshops and meetings with our state legislators will happen 9:00 – 3:00. Lunch is provided. There is no cost to attend, thanks to generous donors.

It’s a long, full day of learning and advocating for important issues, but a great way to put our faith into action.
The final day for registration is Monday, February 3rd, so that meetings with your
legislators can be planned. To register and find more information, visit:

What to do if ICE shows up at the church

  • Don’t open the door! Communicate through the window or closed door. ICE agents
    can only enter with an arrest warrant signed by a judge.
  • Remain silent & don’t sign any document.
  • Do not consent to a warrantless search.
  • Take photos, videos and write down details. Note officer name, badge, uniforms,
    vests and vehicles. Note the date, time and location.
  • Report the activity to the WAISN deportation defense hotline.

Church Council

Church Council is to envision, plan, implement, and evaluate our congregation’s
ministry and mission. Church Council meetings are open to all.
Church Council meets on the 3rd Thursdays of the month, starting at 6:30pm. If an
agenda item interests you, please join us either online or in Benedict Hall classroom
2 (BH-2).
