Allayna Fundraiser
Allayna Farmer, one of our former youth who went on several FCUMC youth
mission trips is planning to go to the West Bank with Sabeel’s delegation of
15-20 adults in November. Their goal is to create a bridge between Americans
and Palestinians, in the hopes that American advocates can assist in
generating aid and compassion in the United States.
She began her Master of Social Work at La Salle University in Philadelphia this
past January. Allayna expresses gratitude to Fairwood for igniting the light of
service work on a global scale. Her trips to Belize, Montana, Portland, and San
Francisco are pillars to her commitment to service work, which would not have
been possible without the church.
Upon her return, she’ll present what she learned in-person at FCUMC and
report in the January 2026 Epistle newsletter.
Her goal is to raise $2,000 to help pay for her ticket and travel. Scan the QR
code to donate at her GoFundMe. Checks can also be mailed to her at: 1711
S. Cleveland St., Philadelphia, PA 19145.
Questions? Contact her at allaynafarmer@gmail.com.

Youth Choir Practice
Youth Choir practices have started. We meet on Sundays after church in the choir
room (11:15-11:50).
All 6th – 12th grade youth are invited to join us each Sunday! It’s a new school
year so it’s a great time to try something new even if you have never sung with us.
Bring your friends as well, no prior choir experience necessary. We focus on
contemporary Christian music.
We plan to sing this fall on Oct. 19th. We will not have practice after church that
Sunday.
For more information contact Bill & Lori at bill.mcewen@comcast.net.
Trunk or Treat - SUNDAY OCt 26th
This year’s Trunk or Treat (and games) for the children will be held on SUNDAY,

5:30 – 7:00, with setup starting ta 4:30pm.

Blessing of the Animals Sunday Oct 12 11:30am
Everyone is invited to a short outdoor Blessing of the Animals service after the
regular Sunday worship service on Sunday, October 12th. So that people can go
home to get their pets, we’ll start at 11:30am out in the front parking lot. You don’t
need to have a pet to enjoy this service.
Bring your pet or bring a picture of your pet to be blessed by Pastor Ferdie. Pets
must be leashed or in carriers. Invite your neighbors and friends with pets!
We’ll have a memorial table for our blessed pets of the past. Consider bringing a
picture of pets you’ve loved and include their names on the back for us to see.
Blessing of the Animals is traditionally done around the Feast of St. Francis.

Worship Order Changed
The Worship Committee received feedback that generated thoughtful consideration
at two or our recent meetings. We hope to offer the prelude music as a more
meaningful element of the worship experience by connecting it to the Call to
Worship.
So, effective now, the start of our worship services will be: Immediately after the
countdown time (i.e. 10:00), the Lay Reader will welcome worshippers, offer any
verbal announcements, then invite the congregation to Pass the Peace of Christ.
Then we’ll move into the Prelude with the light of Christ and the pastor entering
the sanctuary. Following the Prelude, we’ll then share in the Call to Worship.
Another change we’re making is to present any Mission Moment after the offering.
The offering is our time to respond to God with our gifts, gifts of money and our
time and prayers. This puts the Mission Moment in the context of offering ourselves
as our response to God’s gifts to us.
We welcome any feedback. Please contact our worship leaders with any feedback
for our worship experiences at FCUMC!
