Inclusive Ministries
Our Journey
In 2017, after a year-long, discernment process, our congregation voted overwhelmingly to stand up against the exclusionary language in the Book of Discipline, to be recognized as an inclusive and affirming congregation, and to affiliate with the Reconciling Ministries Network!
Reconciling Ministries Network (RMN)

Established in 1984, RMN works to advance justice and inclusion for all LGBTQ+ people in The United Methodist Church and beyond. As an affiliate of the RMN we commit ourselves to the pursuit of justice and pledge to stand in solidarity with all who are marginalized and oppressed.
The Heart for Others Team
The initiative to grow as a Reconciling Congregation belongs to the entire congregation, and is lead by the Heart for Others team. The team is the outgrowth of discernment effort, with a charge from the Church Council to focus on providing further education and understanding of LGBTQIA+ issues across the congregation, increasing our mission and outreach to the greater LGBTQIA+ community, and working diligently to support replacement of harmful language in the United Methodist Book of Discipline with affirming language to support all of our siblings in Christ.
We marched with PFLAG in the Renton River days parade, coordinated educational events within the congregation such as a pronoun forum discussion, supported a community-youth-lead Fairwood Pride March, and have supported transgender day of remembrance services in our own church and also in the community, just to name a few. We partner with Seattle PFLAG, Lambert House, Renton Pride, and YouthCare.
