Join other people of faith (not just United Methodist, not just Christian) for Faith Action
Network’s “Interfaith Advocacy Day” in our state capitol of Olympia on Thursday, February
12. The event is scheduled for 8:30am - 3:00pm, so plan on a full day! (Lunch is provided

There will be speakers and workshops to learn from. FAN staff also arranges 15-minute
appointments with our legislators (or legislative assistants if the actual legislators are busy)
to share our views and ask questions. LOTS of information is also shared before the event
so you can learn more about important state issues. They ask people to register by
Thursday, January 29 so they can schedule all the legislative appointments.

Help Affected By Recent Flooding
To provide financial support for those affected by recent heavy rains and flooding
across our area, you can donate through a couple United Methodist channels. Our
PNW Conference is already working to assist people. Four volunteers from Fairwood
Community UMC (Don M, Bill B-H, Joe M and Mark W) were already part of an
“Early Response Team.” In addition to our PNW Conference, you can support our
UMC denomination-wide relief work done by United Methodist Committee on
Relief.
Support the Pacific Northwest Conference Disaster Response Fund
(Advance #352) or UMCOR US Disaster Response (Advance #901670). Gifts to these two funds help provide immediate assistance to evacuees and
survivors, as well as prepare for continued response as conditions allow. Give
online through our church website’s GIVE page ( fairwoodumc.org/give ) or place
checks/cash in the offering plate, designated for either fund.
For more information, see the message from our Bishop Cedrick D. Bridgeforth:

Offering Donations today to Human Relations Day
Human Relations Day is one of six churchwide Special Sundays designated to
support ministries and causes important to the entire United Methodist Church.
Your generosity strengthens communities working toward the vision of the “beloved
community,” making these ministries possible:
Community Developers Program (57%) - This program helps churches serve their
neighborhoods—especially communities of color—by focusing on local needs like
education, employment, and empowerment.
United Methodist Voluntary Services (33%) - This program equips volunteers and
congregations to tackle injustice through hands-on projects, community organizing,
and service-learning opportunities.
Youth Offender Rehabilitation Programs (10%) - These church-supported programs
help young people rebuild their lives through mentoring, leadership training, and
positive, faith-based community experiences.
