Super Bowl Food Donation Results
It was a friendly competition between the United Methodist Churches in the Pacific
Northwest Conference and the New England Conference. Our congregants,
preschool families and neighbors collected 666 items (food and hygiene) and $650
for the Renton Salvation Army Food Bank (and the Issaquah Food Bank) to help
those in need. Thank you so much!
The PNW Conference of The United Methodist Church claimed the win in food
collection, gathering an impressive 19,751 items for food-providing ministries, while
the New England Conference collected 7,804 items. New England, however, led in
financial generosity, raising $16,379.92 compared to $10,411 from the Pacific
Northwest. In the PNW Conference, 50 churches participated in the food drive,
roughly 1/4 of the conference, with a number of churches in each district joining in
the fun.
Together, churches in both conferences demonstrated outstanding generosity,
good-natured rivalry, and a shared commitment to addressing hunger in their
communities. This is a victory worth celebrating for its compassion, collaboration,
and the lives it will impact.

Rohr

- or -
Sunday mornings - 11:30am-12:30pm from February 22 - March 29
Father Richard Rohr turns to the writings of the Jewish prophets, revealing how
some of the lesser-read books of the Bible offer us a crucial path forward today.
Drawing on a century of biblical scholarship, The Tears of Things breathes new life
into ancient wisdom, paving a path of enlightenment for anyone seeking a way of
compassionate living in a hurting world. If you are seeking Hope and Wholehearted
Living in difficult times, join us as we seek to answer these questions.
How do we live compassionately in a time of violence and despair? What can we do
with our private disappointments and the anger we feel in such an unjust world?
You will need to get a copy of the book from the library or your favorite bookstore.

Shrove Sunday Waffle Breakfast – February 15th!
Lent traditionally involved abstaining from rich foods like meat, eggs, butter, and
sugar, so Shrove Tuesday became the day to use them up with indulgent dishes,
traditionally pancakes. To include more of our church community, we are
celebrating with Waffles on Sunday instead.
Join us after worship on Sunday, February 15, for a joyful Shrove Waffle Breakfast
in the fellowship hall! This tradition is a chance to gather as a congregation, share
a meal, and celebrate community together. Fresh waffles hot off the griddle will be
served, along with orange juice to brighten the morning.
It’s a wonderful opportunity to enjoy good food and warm fellowship as we prepare
for the Lenten season. We look forward to seeing you there!
Thank you to Stephen Spates and family for coordinating this celebration!
Peacemakers Series
Peacemakers Learning Series – session 1 on Sunday, February 15 after the worship
service (about 11:30). Help us to become the church Christ calls us to be!
Come to learn some simple mental models that enable us to think about and
improve ourselves while learning a practical set of interpersonal skills.
In our first learning series lesson we will explore the PEAR model, the power of
compelling visions and missions, and explicit conflict management techniques and
inter-personal skills. It will be an interactive session creating a common language
and understanding and specific skills that will position us for the future.
We are called to transform as we follow how and what Christ calls us to be. In our
transformation, there will be conflict. We are preparing ourselves to deal with it
effectively and lovingly.
Get your Shrove Waffle food first. Feel free to bring it into the sanctuary.
